Carbon Reduction Plan

1. Introduction

RIVIAM Digital Care is committed to minimising its environmental impact and contributing to a sustainable future. This Carbon Reduction Plan outlines our commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions, in alignment with national and international targets. It details the steps we will take to measure, reduce and offset our carbon footprint.

2. Baseline emissions

  • We have established a baseline year for our carbon emissions. This has involved measuring our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
  • The baseline year was 2024 and emissions will be measured in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e).

3. Emissions scope

Our Carbon Reduction Plan will address the following emission scopes:

  • Scope 1: Direct emissions: Emissions from sources owned or controlled by RIVIAM, such as:
    • Consumption of fuel in company-owned vehicles
    • Emissions from on-site combustion of fuel for heating
  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased energy: Emissions from the generation of purchased electricity consumed by RIVIAM.
  • Scope 3: Other indirect emissions: Emissions that occur because of RIVIAM's activities but are from sources not owned or controlled by the company. This will include, but is not limited to:
    • Business travel by employees.
    • Emissions from our supply chain, including cloud hosting and data centres.
    • Employee commuting.
    • Waste generated in our operations.
    • Use of sold products and services.

4. Emissions reduction targets

  • RIVIAM Digital Care commits to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2030, in line with the UK government's Net Zero target.
  • We will set interim targets to ensure progress towards our Net Zero goal. These targets will be reviewed and updated regularly.
    • Interim Target 1: Reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 30% by 2026 from the baseline year.
    • Interim Target 2: Reduce Scope 3 emissions by 30% by 2027 from the baseline year.
