Our first Charity Cake Sale was a success

28 May 2025

On Sunday 25 May, we held our very first Charity Cake Sale in support of Mentoring Plus and it turned out to be an incredible morning! It was a real pleasure to meet so many kind and supportive people and to brighten their day with delicious cakes that made their day just a little (or a lot) sweeter.

Our team chose Mentoring Plus as our Charity of the Year for 2025, with the goal of raising at least £1,000 through a series of fundraising events throughout the year. Community is at the heart of everything we do at RIVIAM and supporting it is incredibly important to us. Creating social value isn’t just a statement - it’s something we actively live through initiatives like this, by giving back and helping organisations that make a real difference. Read more about our social value here.

Thanks to the amazing efforts of our team and supporters, we raised an impressive £313.50 in just three hours! In addition, RIVIAM will be adding an additional £186.50 to bring the total raised to a fantastic £500 – this means we are halfway to reach our goal to raise a minimum of £1,000 this year. Every penny will go to Mentoring Plus, helping them continue their vital work supporting young people in our community.

A huge thank you to our star bakers: Mabel, Henry, Christine, Dave, Vanessa, Matheus, Miranda and Siân - your sweet creations were nothing short of spectacular. We’re also so grateful to Cafe Pastel and Mokoko, who generously donated some of their signature cakes for the cause.

We were lucky enough to be able to host the event at The Locksbrook Inn, who kindly let us take over a corner of the pub for the event. Thank you, Suzy and all the staff, at The Locksbrook Inn for helping and giving us the support we needed.

Special thanks go to Cato, Matheus and Vanessa for organising the whole event so seamlessly and to Karen, Luca and Henry for helping to sell the cakes. And to Ruth Brown from Mentoring Plus – thank you for joining us on the day, helping with card payments and sharing the amazing work Mentoring Plus does with our visitors.
